The Glen Iris Bowling Club was formed for the 1994/95 season. It was the joining of two clubs that were divided by just a fence. These two clubs were the Tooronga Bowling Club and the Gardiner Bowling Club.
Even fourteen years ago, the issue of keeping the smaller Clubs in the area in a healthy state both financially and in member size was becoming extremely difficult. Both former Clubs took the view that joining together would give long term stability. The new formed Club enjoyed seven years of existence until the loss of players and increasing workload on a few, forced Glen Iris Bowling Club to once again consider what would be best for the Club.
The members as one decided to start talks with the Ashburton Bowling Club about the possibilities of joining their Club which ended up with every member joining the new Club in 2003.
